Oilers Pickup 3rd In A Row Beating Sens 4-2

The Oilers were looking to get their third win in a row and the Senators were looking to turn things around. With Ethan Bear being out of the lineup for the 2nd game in a row 21 year old defenseman Evan Bouchard got his first game since the 2018-2019 season. The Oilers opened the scoring nine minutes into the 1st thanks to a Darnell Nurse one-timer with assists from Barrie and McDavid. Minutes later Senators Evgenii Dadanov took a run at Puljujarvi where he crashed into the boards. Colin White would chase Puljujarvi down the ice and rough him up after the whistle but no penalty was called on the play. Puljujarvi would get his revenge on the next shift as he made a nice move to beat the defenseman before picking up his own rebound and scoring his first of the season making it 2-0 for the Oilers.

Just two minutes later Draisaitl would come down the wing on a 3-on-2 catching the Sens goalie Marcus Hogberg way out of position making it an easy snipe for Draisaitl.

The Oilers would get their fourth goal five minutes into the 2nd period as Puljujarvi got his second of the game via a tip in from an Evan Bouchard wrister. This was Bouchard’s first NHL assist. The Sens would get one back midway through the period as Cedric Paquette got his first of the year. The Sens would add one more late as Stutzle would come in on a break and go five hole after getting a nice stretch pass from Stepan but would not be enough as the oilers win 4-2. There was a scrum after the buzzer but nothing would result of it.

The final shots were 25-25. The Oilers penalty kill unit shined tonight going 5/5 with the help of some nice saves by Koskinen while on the power play they went 0/2. The Oilers will now look to rest up before their first game of the year against Calgary on Saturday and they hope Bear will be back in the lineup.
