The KHL slate started in Khabarovsk where Amur faced off against Sibir for the second straight game. Amur who is eliminated from the playoffs was looking to play the spoiler role against Sibir. Amur was able to win 3-1 with the help of Valentin Pyanov scoring twice and Evgeny Alikin making 43 saves including a nice diving stop with his stick.
Severstal welcomed in Lokomotiv where they looked to keep hot to catch up to Dinamo Minsk and Jokerit in the west. Severstal would get a 3-0 lead before Lokomotiv would get two back to make it a one goal game. It would not be enough though as Severstal added 1 late to get the 2 points with a 4-2 victory.
Avangard played Dinamo Minsk at home looking to increase their lead over Magnitogorsk and Salavat in the east. Omsk would get the win 3-1 in a game that had goals from all North Americans. Reid Boucher opened the scoring for Omsk with 5 minutes left in the 2nd before Corbin Knight would add two more. Minsk would get one back late with the help of Rob Klinkhammer.
CSKA played Dinamo Riga at home in a matchup between first and last in the west. The first period went scoreless but Riga would score on the power play early the second before CSKA would get it back on a power ply of their own a few minutes later. Riga would add two more in the period to head into the third up 3-1. In the second half of the third Moscow would get two to tie the game and force overtime. In overtime Moscow would get the win with an OT winner from Brendan Leipsic.
