Riga who sits in last place of the entire league has played extremely competitive hockey as of late despite dropping their last seven. Their last five have all been one goal games with two going to O.T. and played Omsk to a 2-1 loss in their last meeting. Rihards Bukarts would open the scoring for Riga getting his 10th of the year with 3 minutes left in the first. The tides would turn in the 2nd period though. Reid boucher would tie it up for Omsk 6 minutes in before Klim Kostin would give them the lead just nine seconds later. five minutes later Kostin added his 2nd of the the game while Boucher would get his 2nd too with 42 seconds left in the period. Omsk would add one more early in the third before spending most of the rest of the period in the box taking five penalties. The game finished 5-1 and giving Omsk soul possession of 2nd in the eastern conference sitting two points ahead of Magnitogorsk and four in front of Salavat Yulaev.
Jokerit Who has lost 4 of their last five was looking for a crucial win over Severstal who they sat 1 point ahead of pre game. Igor Geraskin would open scoring midway through the first for Severstal. Jokerit tied the game up late in the second and the game would go into O.T. 1-1. Minute and a half into the overtime Igor Geraskin got his second of the game with a nice move to get the W for Severstal. Jokerit and Sevrstal both have 62 points and sit at 5th and 6th respectively in the West after the game.
