The KHL slate started off in Nur-Sultan when Barys welcomed in Salavat Yulaev. Barys would jump off to a quick 2-0 lead in the first thanks to goals from Kirill Panyukov and Nikita Mikhailis. Salavat would get one back midway through the third with a goal from Philip Larsen. Just a minute and a half later they would tie it up when Sakari Manninen would get his 17th of the year. The game would go to overtime where Salavat would get the win after Alexander Alexeyev would come in on a breakaway and bury it on Barys goalie Henrik Karlsson.
Ak Bars welcomed in the Kunlun Red Star for a showdown of the top of the Eastern Conference vs the bottom. Ak Bars got out to a lead in the final minute of the first with a highlight reel goal from Artyom Galimov. They would add one late in the second before Kunlun would make it a 2-1 game midway through the third. Ak Bars would add the insurance goal late in the third to make and make it a 3-1 final score. Ak Bars gets to 80 points on the year and remains atop the standings.
Saint Petersburg traveled to Moscow to face off against Spartak. The game did not go the way that underdog Spartak wished it would though. Saint Petersburg got out to the lead early and kept it the whole game winning 5-0. Early in the second period Mikhail Kotlyarevsky and Danila Galenyuk would get into a fight but did not seem to provide a spark for Spartak. Anton Burdasov got his 22nd goal of the season, good for 5th in the league. Alexander Samonov got his first shutout of the season highlighted by a nice toe save to cut off a pass to stop Spartak’s Lukas Radil from putting it into the open net.
Jokerit Welcomed in Magnitogorsk to play their second game in as many nights after beating Torpedo last night. Jokerit was unable to come up with the win as Magnitogorsk continued their hot streak getting their 7th victory in a row winning 5-1.
