There were five games on the slate in the KHL for the day. The day started off with Avangard heading to Yaroslavl to play Lokomotiv. Reid Boucher opened the scoring early in the first tallying his 18th of the year and giving Omsk the 1-0 lead. Omsk would score a few minutes later to get the 2-0 lead. Lokomotiv would score 2 unanswered to even it at 2-2 in the third and force overtime. Atte Ohtamaa would get the OT winner for Lokomotiv after getting the pass from Yegor Korshkov on the 2on1 break. The two teams will now head to Omsk to play the second half of the home and home on Sunday. Both teams are still very much in position to finish first place in their conferences.
Dinamo Minsk welcomed the first place CSKA Moscow into town where CSKA was looking to bounce back after losing two straight. Minsk opened the scoring in the first when Alexie Protas would bat his own rebound out of air to get his seventh of the season. CSKA Mosow would score 4 unanswered before minsk scored one more late to make the final score 4-2 for CSKA adding to their lead at the top of the standings in the west.
Dynamo Moscow would look to build off their win against CSKA on Wednesday when they welcomed Sochi into their barn. Dynamo would have a dominant second period where they scored 4 goals and the game ended with that score of 4-0. The game was highlighted by a hat trick for Michal Cajkovsky bookended by the two nice clappers below.
Jokerit played Torpedo at home where both teams were looking to pick up crucial points to bump their position in playoff race. Jokerit would jump out to a three goal lead before Torpedo would score one more to make it a two goal game. Jokerit’s Anttila Marko would pot his eighth of the year late to make it 4-1 which would be the final score.
The last game of the day was between last place Dinamo Riga and Severstal. Severstal opened the scoring with Kirill Adamchuck scoring his first and second career KHL goals to give them a 2-0 lead. Miks Indrasis would get one back for Dinamo Riga with a nice snipe after taking the pass from JC Lipon and Yegor Al Morozov. Midway through the third JC Lipon would make a nice defensive play breaking up a pass and sending Indrasis on a break before Indrasis makes an impressive no look feed back to Lipon to even it up at 2-2. However in the final minutes of the third Severstal’s Joonas Nattinen would score to give them lead and secure the win.
